Knudsen Engineering attends CHC 2002, live demo

June 1, 2002

Knudsen Engineering Limited (KEL) was pleased to be a part of the Canadian Hydrographic Conference (CHC) 2002 in Toronto, Canada. The show gave Knudsen personnel a great chance to meet with many existing customers and discuss new ideas and current concerns.

Knudsen Engineering also gave a live demonstration of its 320M Survey Echosounder aboard the CHS vessel Pintail. Featuring the 320M single beam echosounder interfaced to a TSS heave compensator and the on board GPS system, the demonstration allowed Knudsen to meet with personnel from the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS), Environment Canada, NAVEO and Public Works. The opportunity to meet with some of the Canadian Agencies allowed Knudsen Engineering to discuss some of the districts not using Knudsen sounders and ways they could use our products in the future.

The show also allowed Knudsen personnel to attend the papers given by John Hughes Clark of the University of New Brunswick on side scan sonar vs multibeam sonar. The research being done by John Hughes Clarke at the University is using specially modified Knudsen echosounders to collect side scan data. Another point of interest was the paper given by CHS on their journey to ISO 9000 certification.
